{"id":1455,"date":"2014-11-24T10:39:26","date_gmt":"2014-11-24T09:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.mr-int.ch\/?p=1455"},"modified":"2015-05-17T12:59:49","modified_gmt":"2015-05-17T11:59:49","slug":"un-transit-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.mr-int.ch\/?p=1455&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Un-transit energy!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What if &#8230; ?<\/p>\n<p>What if the nuclear exit was not motivated by a muted fear of this technology and by the execration of its centralization (small local units, submarine type engines have not been developed; it had to be big, even without the need to enrich fissile material for military purposes)?<\/p>\n<p>What if the fear of hypothetical catastrophic consequences of global warming was unfounded and not skillfully manipulated?<\/p>\n<p>What if alternative sources of energy would contribute only futilely to slowing global warming because it is caused for only a small part by carbon dioxide emissions?<\/p>\n<p>What if so-called \u201cgreentechs\u201d were not so green as they require excessive investments while having lower availability as compared to current standards?<\/p>\n<p>What if progress did not consist in eliminating well-established solutions to replace them by others that are more unpredictable, providing at last exactly the same service \u2013 electrical power at 220 \/ 380V and 50Hz \u2013 but with investments and operating costs dramatically higher than the current ones?<\/p>\n<p>What if we would stop thinking that essentially inefficient technologies become profitable with a lot of subsidies and other corrupting mechanisms?<\/p>\n<p>What if we reckon the crucial role that energy production and consumption play in the social and economic development of all countries, both affluent and poor?<\/p>\n<p>What if today\u2019s prosperity had no lifetime warranty?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Well then &#8230;<br \/>\n&#8230; we would get closer to wisdom and reason.<br \/>\n&#8230; we should stop a rambling energy policy that has no sensible goal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If it hurts to have to acknowledge mistakes, it hurts even more to wait to change course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If we would acknowledge a few basic realities then we would gain wisdom and reason.
