Since their inception, environmental movements have shown an allergy to the economic and financial realities associated with the policies they proclaim. A great exercise in recuperation is underway, appropriating environmental and climate themes in order to bring the economic and financial circles to order. When such circles take over, we have to ask ourselves whether the terms of a debate that never takes place are the right ones, in particular the exploitation of a diagnosis of disaster for the purpose of financial mobilisation. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has just sent the court an amicus curiae brief, written testimony in support of Monsanto to clarify the role of the company and that of the regulator. It recalls its jurisdiction in approving plant protection products and the text on their labels, reiterates that it evaluates glyphosate as "not likely to be carcinogenic in humans" and considers the illegal classification made by the State of California to be false and misleading.
